He's Photographed the Hottest Names in Porn, Now JOE OPPEDISANO Talks Those Racy Shoots, What Turns Him On, more

He's the hottest photographer around, shooting the sexiest men on the planet, including the top names in porn, such as Steve Cruz, Colton Ford, Damien Crosse, Tober Brandt, Jake Deckard, Erik Rhodes and many more.

His work has been featured in numerous magazines: 'Esquire,' 'DNA,' 'Out,' 'reFRESH' - just to name a few - and his books 'Testosterone,' 'Uncensored' and 'Knockout!' are nothing short of pure ocular orgasm, featuring men exuding pure hyprsexual, intensity and rawness, while each image remains a work of art (a hot one, at that!)

You Jersey boys can catch Joe this weekend in Asbury Park for the hot RIDE party, too. Hell, even that 'slut' (as he says) Mike Dreyden will be workin' the pole live. Click here for more details on the event.

Anyway, I've been trying to get in Joe's pants, I mean, uh, to get him to interview for awhile. But thank goodness Mikey finally grabbed hold of him. Now, Joe has been kind enough to take the time to talk up his work as a fashion editor for 'L'Uomo Vogue,' 'W' and more to his own experience doing porn. Lets get to it...

M: When did your interest in photography first start?

J: When I had a nervous breakdown. I was 30, already had a successful career as a fashion editor, working with 'W,' 'Vanity Fair,' 'L'Uomo Vogue,' and I had just turned 30, and thought, 'I can't have already reached as far as I can go. This is it?'

Muzo note: Perhaps you recognize one of his shots, there on the right?

M: You mention your work as a fashion editor for 'Italian Vogue.' While the legendary Anna Wintour is in NYC, did you have any 'Devil Wears Prada'-esque stories of your own? What was the experience like?

J: Luckily, I was the men's editor for Arthur Elgort, so we were filtered from ever dealing with her. Although we were always in a separate location van and made to eat scraps from the "supermodels" vans...come to think of it, she DID laugh and kick our van every time she walked by, and she'd spit on us, and throw cigarettes and burn us, and one time my shirt caught on fire, and she WAS sweet enough to urinate on me to put it out! (do i have to say that that was a joke)

For 'L'Uomo Vogue,' I was lucky enough to be the only editor, so I reported to myself and Mr. Elgort. If anything, it was always the opposite. Menswear is much different from womens.

M: In addition to photographing some of the hottest porn stars, you've also played the porn star. Tell me about that...

J: LOL! Oh, hmmm, I thought I had burned all of those DVDs. Well, I was working the EROS LUBE booth for my ex-boyfriend at Folsom St. East, and since I was selling lube, I wore only a leather jockstrap and boots, and to demonstrate the 'slickness' of EROS, I shoved a bunch up my ass, and when guys came up and asked for samples, I'd give them my 'dispenser.'

This cute kid walked by all day, and at the end of the day, he told me he worked for Hairy Studs Video, and asked if I would consider being in one of their videos. I was 38 and thought, 'What the fuck, who's gonna want to see me have sex in 20 years?' This is at least something I can show my grandchildren proudly when im 90.

M: You've done photography for many of the top gay publications. What is your opinion on the state of gay magazines right now?

J: They look to be a dying breed (unfortunately). Only if they are the standard style magazine.

If you step out of the box and do interesting things, then people will buy it always. I think people like to pick up, hold, cherish and share magazines; it's something about the touch of the pages and the smell of the ink. The magazines I see being around for a long time are ones like 'BUTT,' 'V-Man,' things that are not too commercial. I mean, 'GQ' is hideous, boring...stupid, and we all saw what happened to 'Mens Vogue.' people really don't care about the prissy shit they write/talk about. I remember seeing the first issues; Conde Nast is dead in the water unless they try for a second to be interesting.

M: Taking celebrity pictures can sometimes be pretty stressful. What was it like working with gay icons such as the brilliant Kiki & Herb and the hilarious Amy Sedaris?

J: Everything you imagine, is exactly how it is. Kiki (Justin Bond) and Herb (Kenny Mellman), and Amy, are so incredibly talented, silly, fun and genius, you kind of just set up your lights and basically hit the shoot button. It's not something you want to even TRY to control, because they are so fuckin' out there, in the BEST way possible, that honestly, there's no way you can ever top any of their ideas. It's one of those things where you can not be the boss, and just have a fun day.

M: You photograph some of the hottest guys doing some very hot, sexy things. It has got to be impossible for you to not want to get in on that action while you're shooting. Any good stories?

J: LOL, you wish. No, I am a professional, it actually takes too much out of me to worry about the lights, composition, getting them to follow me and give 100%. If you start sucking cock in the middle of that, there's lube all over your lens, pants down, lol, not cute.

M: You've photographed one of Muzo's faves Damien Crosse, any behind the scenes gossip?

J: My lips have been sealed by the city of New York, and there is a restraining order against both of us by each other. Again, a joke, I adore him; he's so sexy, gives 200% and is a consummate professional.

M: Your RIDE event in Asbury Park on Saturday November 28th is shaping up to be a fantastic event! And it's being held at the legendary Stone Pony!  Is this your first time in Asbury Park? What can the men of Asbury Park expect from you?

J: I have been to Asbury Park; I was there last summer for about 3 hours, and I slept...lol I have a lot of friends out in Asbury, but they never invite me out (hint hint). When your Ecstasy kicks in, you can expect Michael Jackson-style performances, fireworks, a laser show, 50,000 balloons and smoke machine and a special Final Farewell Performance from CHER.

Before your Ecstasy kicks in, you can expect me cutting my most recent discovery Chris Raucci's hair onstage before I shoot him as a military punk. One of my favorites, Torrez, a hairy 6'2" Brazilian with a cock to his knees doing SOMETHING hot, he exudes sex, Mike Dreyden, hopefully working a stripper pole like the slut he is (and he is...) and Junior Stellano, who I'm DYING to shoot, since we have been trying to shoot together for years and it never happened, so it'll be a virgin experience for both of us.

M: Ok, personal time...single or taken?

J: Happy.

M: What's an ideal first date for you?

J: A big bag of chronic, watching music videos and take out.

*****

M: What's a guy gotta do to get naked with you?

J: Ask.

*****

M: What turns you on/off?

J: It takes a lot to offend me, especially if my dick is hard.

*****

M: Favorite part of your body?

J: My personal body? Well, I cant stop touching myself, so I'd say my cock.

*****

M: What's next for Joe Oppedisano?

J: Hold on tight, cause I just got out of my contract with 10percent.com, because, basically, they stole from me and owe me a ton of money...I can elaborate if you like...and I decided that I don't want any other gay artists to suffer at the feet of these gay publishers (Bruno Gmunder can go to the top of that list also), and so I am self-publishing...and since I'm a control freak, and twisted, the stuff will be more extreme and more personal...stay tuned.
