I Just Got Off the Phone with Porn Star DOMINIK RIDER...
Steve Cruz touched on a hot point this week when he posted a blog (NSFW) about hiring bareback porn performer Dominik Rider.
Steve supports safe sex and works with the 'How I Roll' campaign, he put the word out to viewers to get their thoughts: What would people think if he had hired a performer known for having a bareback porn past?
Man, this issue really heated up, and it seems people really have strong opinions about it. I personally feel that when you have people looking at you, listening to you, and you are in the public eye, what you do and say is important, regardless of your stance. I also support safe sex. So while I like Dominik, and he's a very cool guy - I still felt it my obligation to share what I thought.
But despite all the debate, opinions, etc., in the middle of the storm is still one guy - Dominik. A regular guy with a mom, dad, friends family, etc. The thing that bothered me about all this is that sometimes we forget that at the end of the day, the people we watch onscreen (be it TV, film or online) are real people, too.
I just got off the phone with Dominik to talk about this issue. And now, he shares his very candid thoughts about it - and more. Lets get to it...

Dominik: I'm not saying what I do is right. People should be smart and make their own choices. I'm doing what I want to, it's my own form of expression. But you need to be informed and make smart decisions.

Muzo: What is it about barebacking that you like so much?
Dominik: Honestly? It's really hot to be raw with another man and have him shoot his load up inside me.

Muzo: So after all this, will you be doing a film with Steve?
Dominik: Steve has given me the respect so many in the Industry have not - he's been honest and open with me and respected me. He treats me like a real person. I appreciate that. I don't think I will be doing a film with him now, based on my past. And that is okay. I respect him and what he does. Safe sex is an important issue to him, so I hope to work with him one day in some capacity, but probably not now.

Muzo: I was really surprised at how split people are on this issue - many say he should hire you, many disagree. What do you think about all the comments on Steve's blog post?
Dominik: Everyone has different points of view, and I respect that. The thing that's hard is the personal attacks. Some comments were harsh, against me, as a person. I am a human, I am a real person, too. So that was hard to read.
I don't judge people, and I don't like when people do that to me. I'm a genuinely nice guy. I've done bareback porn, I can't go back and change that.

Dominik: Yes, in my experience, the studios have always been very open, saying to us 'Just so you know, this actor is positive or negative or whatever.'
Bottom line, unless you are jacking off alone, no sex is 100% safe. I go into every situation thinking the person may be positive or has an STD. This also brings up the question, if we are so concerned about bareback sex, keep in mind it is also possible to get HIV and STDs from sucking cock - why aren't the studios making their models wear condoms for that? Because no one likes to lick latex.

Muzo: So given that, it doesn't bother you, knowing you are putting yourself at risk?
Dominik: I make the decisions I make for me. I am not saying that I hope people follow my lead, or that what I am doing is right.

Muzo: I know you know this, but even for performers who are HIV positive, there are other strands of the virus you can get - plus STDs. If you are having bareback sex, you have to know this.
Dominik: Yes, I know this. The thing that frustrates me is everyone thinks I'm stupid. I'm college educated, my parents were both university professors. My stepmom taught me how to use a condom when I was 13. I get tested regularly to make sure I don't have STDs, and with the performers, I am always upfront about my status.
Porn is not my life. I have a fulltime job outside of porn. It's something I do for fun and for extra money, and I enjoy it. These are the choices I make. I'm not saying everyone should do it.

Muzo: Do you partake in the partying?
Dominik: I don't even drink. I've never touched drugs in my life.
Muzo: Not even pot?
Dominik: Nothing.

Dominik: Single, yes. Me and my ex of 7 1/2 years broke up after I got involved with porn. We didn't talk for awhile but are good friends now.

Dominik: If the right guy comes along, yes. There are many factors to consider, with what I do. But if things work, I am open to it.

Dominik: Dinner, movies, then hot sex.

Dominik: I work out a lot and like athletic guys, typically white guys, latin guys...but I've been known to go for the chubs, too. Bottom line, it's a chemistry thing, and I know within the first few minutes how it's gonna go.

Dominik: I've got a few shoots up in San Fran coming up, for SX. And one where I'm getting gang banged by 10 guys.
