Former 'American Idol' contestant Blake Lewis dropped by Arista Records

Arista records has dropped season 6 "American Idol" runner-up Blake Lewis. He joins a list of former "Idol" contestants, including Taylor Hicks, Ruben Studdard and Katharine McPhee, who have also been dropped by their labels.

Lewis’s debut album Audio Day Dream failed to chart any singles, and by "Idol" standards, underperformed, selling 98,000 its first week and 299,000 to date.

Just this week, Lewis did an interview with Maximum Threshold radio show, where he announces he has been dropped by Arista records just a few days ago. (To listen to the full interview, visit http://mjsbigblog.com/blake-lewis-dropped-from-arista.htm.)

Says Lewis in the interview, "I had always wanted to be signed by Clive Davis. When I found out how people work under him, what the deal is - the truth - then, I wasn't so stoked. He's still a legend in the industry."

What's next for the former "Idol" contestant? Lewis goes on to say he won't stop making music and is working with his personal collaborators on taking the next step. He still plans on touring with the current album, despite not currently having label support. So if you're a fan of Lewis', click here to get his CD at his official site.
